What is leukemia?
Leukemia, which is not contagious, is a kind of cancer. There are several types of leukemia, and the kind Erin has is acute lymphocytic leukemia (which is also called lymphonblastic leukemia, or ALL). It involves cells (lymphocytes) which are formed in the lymph nodes and the spleen.
To help get rid of the cancer, Erin has chemotherapy treatment. These treatments attack the bad cells in her body so that the good cells will have a chance to grow.
